Cannabis has been a part of my life for longer than it has not. It has taken me on a journey of love, loss and self discovery. I joke that I no longer believe we farm this beautiful plant, it farms us. Through the challenges, she perseveres because she supports who we are and who we strive to be – conscious cultivators with a deep love of Mother Earth. Cannabis has been with me as I’ve navigated life’s challenges and celebrated life’s victories and I hope she never goes away. My husband and I were drawn together for our love of music and cannabis. We moved from the east coast to California as cannabis refugees seeking a safe place to cultivate, hone our craft and reap the benefits of her wonderful medicine. I find cannabis anchors me to the moment, reduces my anxiety, and makes me a better mother by reminding me to proceed through life with care, awareness, and calm. Over the past year, we have been navigating the ups and downs of the regulated market. Our farm was given the 25th permit in Mendocino County and for that we are quite proud. We seek to forge a path while appreciating all those cannabis crusaders of the past that have paved the way for us to be where we are today. Cannabis is taking me on a journey I didn’t expect – I love learning and developing more sustainable ways to cultivate, but I am also learning about policy, activism and – after many years of not doing so – voicing our family’s life passion and dream for the future as conscious educators, activists, consumers and cultivators of safe, clean medicine.
